Tunnel formwork is a half-tunnel shaped steel system that completes load-bearing walls and the floor slab in one concrete pour. Two half units are erected facing each other: the gap between them forms the wall, the upper surface forms the slab.
In mass housing, dormitory, hotel and barracks projects with repetitive floor layouts it shortens structural works considerably. The majority of mass housing production in Türkiye uses this method.
Stripping is done by pulling horizontally with a tower crane; the system is lifted to the next floor as a whole. With correct maintenance a set serves hundreds of casting cycles.
